# Adolf Lewin

German rabbi and author (1843–1910)

**Adolf Lewin** was a German [rabbi](/source/Rabbi) and [author](/source/Author). He was born in [Pinne](/source/Pniewy), [Grand Duchy of Posen](/source/Grand_Duchy_of_Posen) on 23 September 1843. Lewin was educated at the [Jewish Theological Seminary](/source/Jewish_Theological_Seminary_of_Breslau) and at the [University of Breslau](/source/University_of_Breslau). In 1872 he was appointed rabbi in [Koźmin](/source/Ko%C5%BAmin_Wielkopolski), later in [Coblenz](/source/Coblenz), and in 1886 was called to the rabbinate of [Freiburg im Breisgau](/source/Freiburg). He died in 1910.
