# Adolf Hoste

**Adolphe Joseph Hoste** (2 October 1846 – 9 June 1915) was a publisher in [Ghent](/source/Ghent) in the 19th century. Although he belonged to the French-speaking [bourgeoisie](/source/Bourgeoisie), he was an early supporter of [Flemish literature](/source/Flemish_literature). He notably published much Flemish [avant garde](/source/Avant_garde), such as [Anton Bergmann](/source/Anton_Bergmann) and *Novellen* of [Rosalie](/source/Rosalie_Loveling) and [Virginie Loveling](/source/Virginie_Loveling). When the Flemish weekly *Het Volksbelang* was founded by [Julius Vuylsteke](/source/Julius_Vuylsteke), in 1867, he was one of the editors together with [Julius Sabbe](/source/Julius_Sabbe), [Jozef Van Hoorde](/source/Jozef_Van_Hoorde), and [Julius De Vigne](/source/Julius_De_Vigne).
