**Adnan Akmal** ([Urdu](/source/Urdu_language): عدنان اکمل; born 13 March 1985) is a Pakistani former [cricketer](/source/Cricketer). He is a right-handed [batsman](/source/Batsman) and [wicket-keeper](/source/Wicket-keeper) who plays for [Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd Cricket Team](/source/Zarai_Taraqiati_Bank_Ltd_Cricket_Team) and has represented his country at U-17 level. He was called up for [Pakistan's](/source/Pakistan_national_cricket_team) [tour against South Africa in the UAE](/source/Pakistani_cricket_team_vs_South_Africa_in_UAE_2010%E2%80%9311), as a replacement for the first-choice keeper, [Zulqarnain Haider](/source/Zulqarnain_Haider_(cricketer)).

## Personal life

Adnan Akmal was born in [Lahore](/source/Lahore). His brothers, [Kamran Akmal](/source/Kamran_Akmal) and [Umar Akmal](/source/Umar_Akmal), both had central contracts with the [Pakistan Cricket Board](/source/Pakistan_Cricket_Board), and were regular fixtures in the national team.

## Domestic career

Adnan made his first-class debut for [Zarai Traqiata Bank Limited](/source/Zarai_Taraqiati_Bank_Limited_cricket_team) against [Karachi Port Trust](/source/Karachi_Port_Trust_cricket_team) at Peshawar on 15 December 2003.[1]

In April 2018, he was named in [Sindh](/source/Sindh_cricket_team)'s squad for the [2018 Pakistan Cup](/source/2018_Pakistan_Cup).[2][3] In March 2019, he was named in [Khyber Pakhtunkhwa](/source/Khyber_Pakhtunkhwa_cricket_team)'s squad for the [2019 Pakistan Cup](/source/2019_Pakistan_Cup).[4][5]

In September 2019, he represented [Southern Punjab](/source/Southern_Punjab_cricket_team_(Pakistan)) in the [2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Quaid-e-Azam_Trophy) tournament.[6][7] In January 2021, he was a part of Balochistan's squad for the [2020–21 Pakistan Cup](/source/2020%E2%80%9321_Pakistan_Cup).[8][9]

## International career

Adnan was added to [Pakistan's Test](/source/Pakistan_Cricket_Team) squad in replacement of [Zulqarnain Haider](/source/Zulqarnain_Haider_(cricketer)), who announced his retirement from the international cricket after allegedly receiving threats from bookies. He made his [Test](/source/Test_cricket) debut against [South Africa](/source/South_Africa_national_cricket_team) on 12 November 2010. He was [Pakistan A](/source/Pakistan_A_cricket_team)'s wicket keeper.[10]
