The **Adidas Trionda** is a [football](/source/Football_(ball)) produced by [Adidas](/source/Adidas). It is the official [match ball](/source/List_of_FIFA_World_Cup_official_match_balls) of the [2026 FIFA World Cup](/source/2026_FIFA_World_Cup), hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.[1][2] It was introduced on October 2, 2025. The ball is thermally bonded together from just four panels, the smallest number yet for a FIFA World Cup ball.[3]

## Description

The Trionda's membrane is made of four thermally bonded [polyurethane](/source/Polyurethane) panels, the lowest number for any FIFA World Cup match ball so far.[3] Like with the [Al Rihla](/source/Adidas_Al_Rihla) in [2022](/source/2022_FIFA_World_Cup), its surface is textured with [debossed](/source/Paper_embossing) macro and micro patterns (specifically on the ball's icons), meant to improve the ball's flight stability, swerve and grip in wet conditions.[4]

The ball also features "connected ball technology," a side-mounted [inertial measurement unit](/source/Inertial_measurement_unit) (IMU) chip inside one of the four panels (instead of suspended within the bladder like the Al Rihla) to provide the [video assistant referee](/source/Video_assistant_referee) (VAR) with highly accurate ball movement data within seconds.[4][5] This technology was developed with [FIFA](/source/FIFA) and [Kinexon](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kinexon&action=edit&redlink=1) based in Munich.[5]

The ball's color scheme and symbols are inspired by the iconography of the three nations – red with a [maple leaf](/source/Maple_leaf) for Canada, green with an [golden eagle](/source/Golden_eagle)'s head for Mexico and blue with a [five-pointed star](/source/Five-pointed_star) for the United States.

## Etymology

Trionda is created from the combination of the prefix *tri*-, which means "three" in English, French and Spanish, referring to the number of countries hosting the tournament, and *onda*, which in [Spanish](/source/Spanish_language) means "wave", thus "Triple Wave" or "Three Waves".[6][4]

## Production

The Trionda is manufactured in [Sialkot](/source/Sialkot) by the [Pakistani](/source/Pakistan) manufacturing company [Forward Sports](/source/Forward_Sports)[7], who were also the manufacturers of the Al-Rihla[8].
