Adidas Prime

The **Adidas Prime** is a family and brand of [association football balls](/source/Ball_(association_football)). The Prime balls have had different numbers in their names applied to them to distinguish them in their construction.

## Adidas Prime

The **Adidas Prime** was based on the same technology introduced with [Adidas Tango 12](/source/Adidas_Tango_12), its main color was white and showed the same type of decoration of the latter colored of green, blue and white.[1][2] It was used as the official match ball of [2012 MLS season](/source/2012_Major_League_Soccer_season). For the international day for the fight against [breast cancer](/source/Breast_cancer) the MLS used a variant with a pink decoration,[3][4] while a silver version with a golden decoration was used for [2012 MLS play-offs](/source/2012_MLS_Cup_Playoffs).[5][6] Other two variants of Tango 12 were respectively used as official match balls of [2011 FIFA Club World Cup](/source/2011_FIFA_Club_World_Cup)[7][8] and of [2011–12 Argentine Primera División](/source/2011%E2%80%9312_Argentine_Primera_Divisi%C3%B3n_season).[9] As official match ball of [2012–13 Ligue 1](/source/2012%E2%80%9313_Ligue_1) was used a variant of Adidas Prime called **Le 80**, that had a red decoration with white and blue details.[10][11] Its name was a reference to the 80th anniversary of [Ligue 1](/source/Ligue_1). Of this ball was realized a winter high-visibility version.[12][13]

## Adidas Prime 2

The **Adidas Prime 2** used the same decoration pattern and colors of the first version, but the drawing showed three green ribbons forming the triangles.[14][15] It was used as the official match ball of [2013 MLS season](/source/2013_Major_League_Soccer_season). A version with a gold and silver decoration was used for [2013 MLS play-offs](/source/2013_MLS_Cup_Playoffs).[16] However, this type of triadic pattern was later replaced with the circular pattern used for [Adidas Cafusa](/source/Adidas_Cafusa), showed for the first time by the official match ball of [2012–13 UEFA Europa League](/source/2012%E2%80%9313_UEFA_Europa_League).[17][18] As official match ball of [2013 J.League Cup](/source/2013_J.League_Cup) was used a variant of Adidas Cafusa called **Kotohogi**, this was mainly colored red, a white pattern with multicolor details.[19] Its name was a reference to the 20th anniversary of [J.League](/source/J.League). Another variant of Cafusa called **Tafugo** was used for [2013–14 Argentine Primera División season](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_Argentine_Primera_Divisi%C3%B3n_season). The name "Tafugo" is a syllabic abbreviation of the words "[***ta**ngo*](/source/Tango)", "***fu**tbol*" (*football*) and "***go**les*" (*goals*).[20][21] A silver variant, **Tafugo Derby**, was used in the [Superclásicos](/source/Supercl%C3%A1sico) of the same season.[22] Other versions of Cafusa were used an official match balls of [2013–14 UEFA Europa League](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_UEFA_Europa_League)[23][24] and [2013–14 Ligue 1](/source/2013%E2%80%9314_Ligue_1).[25][26]

## Adidas Prime 3

The **Adidas Prime 3** was based on the same technology introduced with [Adidas Brazuca](/source/Adidas_Brazuca), its main color was white and showed the same type of decoration of the latter colored of red and black.[27][28] It was used as the official match ball of [2014 MLS season](/source/2014_Major_League_Soccer_season). Other versions were used as official match balls of [2013 FIFA Club World Cup](/source/2013_FIFA_Club_World_Cup), [2014 UEFA Super Cup](/source/2014_UEFA_Super_Cup),[29] [2014–15 UEFA Europa League](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_UEFA_Europa_League)[30][31] and [2014–15 Ligue 1](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_Ligue_1).[32][33] However, the Brazuca's pattern was later replaced with the pattern used for [Adidas Beau Jeu](/source/Adidas_Beau_Jeu), that appeared on the official match balls of [2015 FIFA Club World Cup](/source/2015_FIFA_Club_World_Cup), [2016 UEFA Super Cup](/source/2016_UEFA_Super_Cup),[34] [2016 J1 League](/source/2016_J1_League) and [2016–17 Ligue 1](/source/2016%E2%80%9317_Ligue_1).[35][36] Of the latters were realized winter high-visibility versions.[37][38]
