# Adarme

The **adarme** is an antiquated [Spanish](/source/Spain) [unit](/source/Units_of_measurement) of [mass](/source/Mass), equal to three *tomines*, equivalent to 1⁄16 ounce (1.8 grams).[1][2] The term derives from the [Arabic](/source/Arabic) درهم,[3] parallel with *[drachm](/source/Drachm)* and the [Greek](/source/Greek_language) δραχμἠ[4] and persists in [Spanish](/source/Spanish_language) as an [idiom](/source/Idiom) for something insignificant or which exists in small quantity.[5]
