**Adams** is an [unincorporated town](/source/Unincorporated_place) in [Burton Township](/source/Burton_Township,_Adams_County,_Illinois), [Adams County](/source/Adams_County,_Illinois), [Illinois](/source/Illinois), United States, approximately 13 miles (21 km) southeast of [Quincy](/source/Quincy,_Illinois). It is tracked by the [census bureau](/source/United_States_Census_Bureau) as a [census-designated place](/source/Census-designated_place).

Adams was laid out in 1838[2] and as of the [2020 census](/source/2020_United_States_census), had a population of 75.[3]

## Geography

According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, the area encompassed by the CDP has a total area of 2.24 square miles (5.80 km2), all land.[4]

## Demographics

As of the [2020 census](/source/2020_United_States_census)[5] there were 75 people, 28 households, and 16 families residing in the CDP. ## Education

The school district for most areas is [Payson Community Unit School District 1](/source/Payson_Community_Unit_School_District_1). A portion is in the [Liberty Community Unit School District 2](/source/Liberty_Community_Unit_School_District_2).[6] The comprehensive high school of the Payson district is [Payson-Seymour High School](/source/Payson-Seymour_High_School), and the comprehensive high school of the Liberty district is [Liberty High School](/source/Liberty_High_School_(Liberty,_Illinois)).
