== Biography ==
MacKenzie joined [Inverleith Hockey Club](/source/Inverleith_Hockey_Club) as a 14 year old<ref name=IHC>{{cite web|url=https://www.inverleith-hc.co.uk/mens-team-of-the-decade/ |title=Men's Team Of The Decade |website=Inverleith Hockey Club |access-date=24 May 2025}}</ref> and earned his first cap for the men's junior national team in 2003. 

He continued to play club hockey for Inverleith in the Scottish leagues until 2015. While at Inverleith he was part of the [Scotland Commonwealth Games team](/source/Scotland_at_the_2006_Commonwealth_Games) at the [2006 Commonwealth Games](/source/2006_Commonwealth_Games) in Melbourne.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/commonwealth_games/4662668.stm |title=Scotland Commonwealth Games squad |website=BBC Sport |date=7 February 2006 |access-date=24 May 2025}}</ref>
