He represented [Victoria County](/source/Victoria_County%2C_New_Brunswick) in the [Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick](/source/Legislative_Assembly_of_New_Brunswick) from 1895 to 1899 as a [Liberal](/source/Liberal_Party_of_New_Brunswick) member.

He was born in [Kinross-shire](/source/Kinross-shire), the son of William Beveridge, and came to Canada with his stepbrother [Benjamin](/source/Benjamin_Beveridge) at the age of 15. Beveridge settled in [Andover](/source/Andover%2C_New_Brunswick) and served on the municipal council. He married Hannah Britt.
