***Achani*** (*Accāṇi*, transl. Axle) is a 1973 Indian [Malayalam](/source/Malayalam)-language film, directed by [A. Vincent](/source/A._Vincent) and produced by [K. Ravindran Nair](/source/K._Ravindran_Nair). The film stars [Prem Nazir](/source/Prem_Nazir), [Nanditha Bose](/source/Nanditha_Bose), [Adoor Bhasi](/source/Adoor_Bhasi) and [Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair](/source/Kottarakkara_Sreedharan_Nair). It tells the story of a tailor and the trials and tribulations of his family.[1] The film was a commercial success and the proceeds from the film was donated by the producer for the construction of a Quilon Public Library in [Quilon, Kerala](/source/Kollam).[2] The film was adapted from the Tamil stage play of same name written by Karaikudi Narayanan.[1]
