# Abbie de Quant

**Abbie de Quant** (born 1946, [The Hague](/source/The_Hague))[1][2] is a Dutch [flautist](/source/Flautist). She taught at the music academies of [Amsterdam](/source/Amsterdam) and [Utrecht](/source/Utrecht_(city)) and had her own bi-annual concert series at the [Concertgebouw](/source/Concertgebouw,_Amsterdam) of [Amsterdam](/source/Amsterdam).[3]

Abbie de Quant studied with Koos Verheul at the Music Academy of [Tilburg](/source/Tilburg) and graduated [summa cum laude](/source/Summa_cum_laude) in 1970. She took a masterclass at the [Accademia Musicale Chigiana](/source/Accademia_Musicale_Chigiana) in [Siena](/source/Siena) with [Severino Gazzelloni](/source/Severino_Gazzelloni), where she received the *Di Onore* diploma.

As a soloist, De Quant has performed with nearly all Dutch orchestras. She won prizes at many national and international competitions. De Quant performs with [pianists](/source/Pianist) Elizabeth van Malde, [Bart Berman](/source/Bart_Berman), and Bernd Brackman, and with other instrumentalists and vocalists.

Among her many students are Caroline Ansink,[4] Karin Bastings,[5] Anne Brackman,[6] Albert Brouwer,[7] Felicia van den End,[8] Herman van Kogelenberg,[9] Marilou Krouwel,[10] and Eleonore Pameijer.
