**Abbas Ali Atwi** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): عباس علي عطوي; born 15 December 1984), also known as **Onika** (Arabic: أونيكا, also spelled **Unica**), is a Lebanese [football](/source/Association_football) coach and former player who is team manager of [Lebanese Premier League](/source/Lebanese_Premier_League) club [Bourj](/source/Bourj_FC).

## Club career

Atwi joined Bourj's youth team aged 14; he made his senior debut in the [Lebanese Second Division](/source/Lebanese_Second_Division) in 2000, in a 4–3 defeat against [Ahed](/source/Al_Ahed_FC).[2] Atwi moved to [Lebanese Premier League](/source/Lebanese_Premier_League) side [Olympic Beirut](/source/Olympic_Beirut) in 2002,[3] with whom he won the [domestic double](/source/Double_(association_football)) (league and cup) in his first season.[2]

In 2005 Atwi signed for [Ahed](/source/Al_Ahed_FC).[3] He scored 58 league goals and won five league titles in 12 years at the club.[4]

Atwi joined [Ansar](/source/Al_Ansar_FC) in 2017,[3] helping them win their first league title in 14 years in 2021.[5]

On 18 June 2021, Atwi moved back to [Bourj](/source/Bourj_FC), where he had begun his career.[6] He announced his retirement on 20 May 2022, following the [2021–22 season](/source/2021%E2%80%9322_Lebanese_Premier_League).[7]

## International career

In 2005, Atwi played for the [Lebanon national under-23 team](/source/Lebanon_national_under-23_football_team); he scored from the [half-way line](/source/Half-way_line) in a game against [Japan U23](/source/Japan_national_under-23_football_team), which Lebanon lost 2–1.[2]

Atwi has played for the [Lebanon national team](/source/Lebanon_national_football_team) between 2002 and 2016, scoring four goals in over 50 appearances.[8] He has played at the [2006](/source/2006_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)), [2010](/source/2010_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)), [2014](/source/2014_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)), and [2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers](/source/2018_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_(AFC)), and the [2004](/source/2004_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification) and [2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers](/source/2015_AFC_Asian_Cup_qualification), as well as at the [2002](/source/2002_WAFF_Championship) and [2004 WAFF Championships](/source/2004_WAFF_Championship) and at the [2002 Arab Cup](/source/2002_Arab_Cup).[4]

## Personal life

Atwi earned his nickname "Onika" in reference to the Lebanese chocolate bar [Unica](/source/Gandour) as, after being involved in a non-fatal car accident as a kid, the first thing he asked his mother was the chocolate bar that he was holding in his hand during the accident.[9]

He is not related to fellow Lebanese footballer [Abbas Ahmad Atwi](/source/Abbas_Ahmad_Atwi).[10]
