==Early life and education==
Pixton was born in [Binghamton, New York](/source/Binghamton%2C_New_York); his father, Dennis Pixton, is a retired professor of mathematics at [Binghamton University](/source/Binghamton_University). He grew up in [Vestal, New York](/source/Vestal%2C_New_York).
