**Apolipoprotein L6** is a [protein](/source/Protein) that in humans is encoded by the *APOL6* [gene](/source/Gene).[1][2][3]

This gene is a member of the [apolipoprotein](/source/Apolipoprotein) L [gene family](/source/Gene_family). The encoded protein is found in the [cytoplasm](/source/Cytoplasm), where it may affect the movement of [lipids](/source/Lipid) or allow the [binding](/source/Molecular_binding) of lipids to [organelles](/source/Organelle).[3]
