==Design and development ==
The Stallion is a single-engined high-winged [monoplane](/source/monoplane), with wings based on those of the [Lancair ES](/source/Lancair_ES) and a retractable [tricycle landing gear](/source/tricycle_landing_gear) from the [Lancair IV](/source/Lancair_IV). It has a steel-tube fuselage center section, with the remainder of the airframe of composite construction, and is designed to be powered by engines of 230–350&nbsp;hp (172–261&nbsp;kW). The recommended engine is the {{convert|300|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Continental IO-550](/source/Continental_IO-550), but engines as powerful as the {{convert|750|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} [Walter M601](/source/Walter_M601) have been used.<ref name="WDLA11"/><ref name="WDLA15"/><ref name="JAWA p499-0">Jackson 2003, pp. 499–500.</ref> It is available in two versions, the four seat ADI Stallion and the six-seat Super Stallion.<ref name="WDLA15"/><ref name="Brasseys99 p560">Taylor 1999, p. 560.</ref>
