It runs southwest from the [South Circular](/source/South_Circular_Road%2C_London) at [Catford](/source/Catford), going through [Sydenham](/source/Sydenham%2C_London), Norwood and [Crystal Palace](/source/Crystal_Palace%2C_London) before heading south to [Croydon](/source/Croydon). It then turns east to terminate at the [A2022 road](/source/A2022_road) in [Forestdale](/source/Forestdale%2C_London).{{cn|date=May 2026}}

==Vicar's Oak==
The junction with the [A214](/source/A214_road) at Crystal Palace is the meeting point of four [London Borough](/source/London_Borough)s &ndash; [London Borough of Bromley](/source/London_Borough_of_Bromley), [London Borough of Croydon](/source/London_Borough_of_Croydon), [London Borough of Lambeth](/source/London_Borough_of_Lambeth) and [London Borough of Southwark](/source/London_Borough_of_Southwark).
