- [June](/source/June) – [Battle of Anchialus](/source/Battle_of_Anchialus_(763)): Emperor [Constantine V](/source/Constantine_V) sends a [Byzantine](/source/Byzantine_Empire) expeditionary force (800 ships and 9,600 [cavalry](/source/Cavalry)) to [Thrace](/source/Thrace), to defend the fortress city of [Anchialus](/source/Pomorie) on the [Black Sea Coast](/source/Bulgarian_Black_Sea_Coast). Meanwhile, [Telets](/source/Telets_of_Bulgaria), ruler (*[khagan](/source/Khagan)*) of the [Bulgarian Empire](/source/First_Bulgarian_Empire), blocks the [mountain passes](/source/Balkan_Mountains) and takes positions on the heights near Anchialus. Al-Mansur withdrew and thereafter focused his troops on holding the eastern part of his empire on lands that were once part of Persia.[2]
