**64 Draconis** is a single[10] star in the northern [circumpolar constellation](/source/Circumpolar_constellation) of [Draco](/source/Draco_(constellation)), located 452 [light years](/source/Light_year) away.[1] It has the [Bayer designation](/source/Bayer_designation) of **e Draconis**; *64 Draconis* is the [Flamsteed designation](/source/Flamsteed_designation). The object is visible to the naked eye as a dim, red-hued star with an [apparent visual magnitude](/source/Apparent_visual_magnitude) of 5.27.[2] It is moving closer to the Earth with a heliocentric [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) of −36 km/s, and it is predicted to come as close as 204 ly in around 4.3 million years.[5]

This is an [evolved](/source/Stellar_evolution) [red giant](/source/Red_giant) star with a [stellar classification](/source/Stellar_classification) of M1 III,[4] currently on the [asymptotic giant branch](/source/Asymptotic_giant_branch).[3] It has expanded to about 68 times the [Sun's radius](/source/Sun's_radius) and is radiating 967 times the [Sun's luminosity](/source/Sun's_luminosity) from its [photosphere](/source/Photosphere) at an [effective temperature](/source/Effective_temperature) of 4,134 K. 64 Draconis forms a faint naked-eye pair with [65 Draconis](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=65_Draconis&action=edit&redlink=1) 12′ away. The latter is a [suspected variable](/source/Variable_star) with a brightness range in the [Hipparcos](/source/Hipparcos) photometric filter of 5.29 to 5.33.[11]

In [Chinese](/source/Chinese_language) astronomy, it belongs to the 天廚 (*Tiān Chú*) (*[Celestial Kitchen](/source/Purple_Forbidden_enclosure)*) [asterism](/source/Asterism_(astronomy)).[12]
