'''52 Herculis''' is a [triple star](/source/triple_star)<ref name=DeRosa2012/><ref name=Eggleton2008/> system in the northern [constellation](/source/constellation) of [Hercules](/source/Hercules_(constellation)). It is visible to the naked eye as a faint point of light with a combined [apparent visual magnitude](/source/apparent_visual_magnitude) of 4.82.<ref name=Anderson2012/> Based upon [parallax measurements](/source/stellar_parallax), the system is located 180&nbsp;[light year](/source/light_year)s away from the Sun. It is moving closer to the Earth with a heliocentric [radial velocity](/source/radial_velocity) of −1.6&nbsp;km/s.<ref name=Anderson2012/>

The primary member, designated component A, is a magnetic<ref name=Bychkov2012/> [chemically peculiar star](/source/chemically_peculiar_star)<ref name=Sikora2018/> with a [stellar classification](/source/stellar_classification) of A1VpSiSrCr,<ref name=Abt1981/> appearing as an [A-type main-sequence star](/source/A-type_main-sequence_star) with abnormal abundances of silicon, strontium, and chromium. It is an [alpha<sup>2</sup> Canum Venaticorum variable](/source/Alpha2_Canum_Venaticorum_variable) that ranges in brightness from visual magnitude 4.78 down to 4.85 with a period of 3.8567&nbsp;days.<ref name=Samus2017/> The star is about 525&nbsp;million years old with a [projected rotational velocity](/source/projected_rotational_velocity) of 23&nbsp;km/s. It has 2.2 times the [mass of the Sun](/source/mass_of_the_Sun) and 2.3 times the [Sun's radius](/source/Sun's_radius). The star is radiating 29.5 times the [Sun's luminosity](/source/Sun's_luminosity) from its [photosphere](/source/photosphere) at an [effective temperature](/source/effective_temperature) of 8,840&nbsp;K.<ref name=Sikora2018/>
