The **4 Hours of Monza** was an [endurance race](/source/Endurance_racing_(motorsport)) for [sports cars](/source/Sports_car_racing) held at [Monza Circuit](/source/Monza_Circuit) in [Monza](/source/Monza), [Italy](/source/Italy).

## History

The 4 Hours of Monza was added to the [European Le Mans Series](/source/European_Le_Mans_Series) (ELMS) calendar for the first time in [2017](/source/2017_European_Le_Mans_Series), replacing the [previous Italian race](/source/4_Hours_of_Imola) at [Imola Circuit](/source/Imola_Circuit).[1] The last time the ELMS ran at Monza was in [2008](/source/2008_1000_km_of_Monza), as part of the [Le Mans Series](/source/2008_Le_Mans_Series) as the [1000 km of Monza](/source/1000_km_of_Monza).[2]

The [inaugural event](/source/2017_4_Hours_of_Monza) was won by [Memo Rojas](/source/Memo_Rojas), [Léo Roussel](/source/L%C3%A9o_Roussel) and [Ryo Hirakawa](/source/Ryo_Hirakawa) driving for [G-Drive Racing](/source/G-Drive_Racing).[3] G-Drive claimed top honors the following two years with five different drivers, only [Roman Rusinov](/source/Roman_Rusinov) repeating as winner in both races.[4][5] The [2019 edition](/source/2019_4_Hours_of_Monza) was the first victory for the rebanded [Oreca 07](/source/Oreca_07), [Aurus 01](/source/Aurus_01).[6]

The [2020 race](/source/2020_4_Hours_of_Monza) was dominated by [United Autosports](/source/United_Autosports) drivers [Filipe Albuquerque](/source/Filipe_Albuquerque) and [Phil Hanson](/source/Phil_Hanson_(racing_driver)), who also claimed the ELMS title at this round.[7] [Panis Racing](/source/Olivier_Panis) took its first victory in the ELMS at the [2021 edition](/source/2021_4_Hours_of_Monza) with [James Allen](/source/James_Allen_(racing_driver)), [Julien Canal](/source/Julien_Canal) and [Will Stevens](/source/Will_Stevens).[8] The most recent edition in [2022](/source/2022_4_Hours_of_Monza) saw [IDEC Sport](/source/IDEC_Sport_Racing) take top spoils for the first time in [three years](/source/2019_4_Hours_of_Portim%C3%A3o) with [Paul-Loup Chatin](/source/Paul-Loup_Chatin), [Paul Lafargue](/source/Paul_Lafargue_(racing_driver)) and [Patrick Pilet](/source/Patrick_Pilet), overcoming a 20 second penalty.[9][10]
