**3C 249.1** is a [Seyfert galaxy](/source/Seyfert_galaxy) located in the [constellation](/source/Constellation) [Draco](/source/Draco_(constellation)). It hosts a powerful [radio source](/source/Astronomical_radio_source)[3] and is located at [redshift](/source/Redshift) 0.3115, with a peculiar radio structure. One of its [radio lobes](/source/Radio_galaxy) is classified as having a [Fanaroff-Riley classification](/source/Fanaroff%E2%80%93Riley_classification) Type II, while the other lobe has no features nor containing hotspots.[4]

3C 249.1 contains [emission lines](/source/Spectral_line)[5] with an extended emission-line region.[6] Its [black hole](/source/Black_hole) is known to have a high [accretion](/source/Accretion_(astrophysics)) rate.[7]

The [star formation](/source/Star_formation) rate in 3C 249.1 is estimated to be between ranges of ~1–250 M⊙ yr−1, according to researchers using [spectral energy distributions](/source/Spectral_energy_distribution), as well as high resolution mid-infrared spectra of quasars from the Palomar–Green sample.[8]
