'''32 Tauri''' is the [Flamsteed designation](/source/Flamsteed_designation) for a solitary<ref name=mnras389_2_869/> [star](/source/star) in the [zodiac](/source/zodiac) [constellation](/source/constellation) of [Taurus](/source/Taurus_(constellation)). It has a [visual magnitude](/source/apparent_magnitude) of 5.64,<ref name="MERMILLIOD"/> making it visible to the naked eye from suburban skies (according to the [Bortle scale](/source/Bortle_scale)). The position of this star near the [ecliptic plane](/source/ecliptic_plane) means that it is subject to [occultation](/source/occultation)s by the [Moon](/source/Moon).<ref name=aj41_956_80/> [Parallax](/source/Stellar_parallax) measurements put it at a distance of 144 [light year](/source/light_year)s from the [Sun](/source/Sun).<ref name=GaiaDR3/> It is drifting further away with a [radial velocity](/source/radial_velocity) of +31.9<ref name=al32_11_759/> km/s, having come to within {{convert|27.27|pc|ly|disp=out|abbr=off}} some 759,000 years ago.<ref name=Anderson_Francis_2012/>

The [spectrum](/source/spectrum) of this star matches a [stellar classification](/source/stellar_classification) of F2IVs,<ref name=Gray_et_al_2001/> with the [luminosity class](/source/luminosity_class) of IV indicating that this star has reached the [subgiant](/source/subgiant) stage and is in the process of evolving into a [giant star](/source/giant_star). It has twice the mass of the sun with nearly three times the [Sun's radius](/source/Sun's_radius), but 15 times the Sun's luminosity<ref name = TICv7/> and about half the Sun's age.<ref name=aa530_A138/> The abundance of elements other than hydrogen and helium is lower in this star than in the Sun.<ref name=aa530_A138/> The [effective temperature](/source/effective_temperature) of the star's [outer atmosphere](/source/Stellar_atmosphere) is {{val|6,901|u=K}},<ref name = TICv7/> giving it the white-hued glow of an F-type star.<ref name="csiro"/>
