The '''2nd Tank Corps''' was a [Red Army](/source/Red_Army) [armoured](/source/tank) formation that saw service during [World War II](/source/World_War_II) on the [Eastern Front](/source/Eastern_Front_(World_War_II)).  The unit had approximately the same size and combat power as a [Wehrmacht](/source/Wehrmacht) [Panzer Division](/source/Panzer_Division), and less than a [British](/source/Great_Britain) [Armoured Division](/source/Armoured_Division) had during World War II.

==History==
The 2nd Tank Corps was formed in April 1942 in [Gorky](/source/Gorky_(city)). Its command was accommodated in three chambers in [Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin](/source/Nizhny_Novgorod_Kremlin) and its units were formed in winter camps around the city.

On 19 September 1943, it became the [8th Guards Tank Corps](/source/8th_Guards_Tank_Corps).
