International football competition

The **2023 CONCACAF Caribbean Shield** was the sixth edition of the [CONCACAF Caribbean Shield](/source/CONCACAF_Caribbean_Shield), the second-tier annual international club [football](/source/Association_football) competition in the [Caribbean](/source/Caribbean) region, held amongst clubs whose football associations are affiliated with the [Caribbean Football Union](/source/Caribbean_Football_Union) (CFU), a sub-confederation of [CONCACAF](/source/CONCACAF).

[Bayamón](/source/Bayam%C3%B3n_F%C3%BAtbol_Club), having won the title in [2022](/source/2022_Caribbean_Club_Shield), were the title holders, but did not qualify since they lost in the 2022 [Liga Puerto Rico](/source/Liga_Puerto_Rico) Apertura semifinals against [Puerto Rico Sol](/source/Puerto_Rico_Sol_FC).[1]

[Robinhood](/source/S.V._Robinhood) won their second title, defeating [Golden Lion](/source/Golden_Lion_FC) in the final.[2] Both finalists qualified to the [2023 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup](/source/2023_CONCACAF_Caribbean_Cup).[3][4]

Since [CONCACAF](/source/CONCACAF) announced Trinidadian teams will be confirmed on May 28, the third placed team as June 2, 2023 is qualified to the competition.[5]

## Group stage

In the group stage, each group is played on a [round-robin](/source/Round-robin_tournament) basis with teams playing against each other once, for a total of three matches per team.

After single round-robin play, the group winners (four teams in total) will advance to the Semifinals.

The Semifinal winners (two clubs) will dispute the tournament's final and secure a berth in the [2023 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup](/source/2023_CONCACAF_Caribbean_Cup), which will serve as an opportunity to qualify for the [2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup](/source/2024_CONCACAF_Champions_Cup).
