The **2022 [PointsBet Invitational](/source/PointsBet_Invitational)** [curling](/source/Curling) tournament was held from September 21 to 25 at the [Willie O'Ree Place](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Willie_O%27Ree_Place&action=edit&redlink=1) in [Fredericton](/source/Fredericton), [New Brunswick](/source/New_Brunswick).[1] The event featured thirty-two Canadian teams and was the first major event of the "Season of Champions" of the [2022–23 season](/source/2022%E2%80%9323_curling_season).[2] It was played in a [single-elimination tournament](/source/Single-elimination_tournament) with the winning men's and women's teams of [Reid Carruthers](/source/Reid_Carruthers) and [Jennifer Jones](/source/Jennifer_Jones_(curler)) receiving $50,000 each.

## Qualification

The top 12 ranked men's and women's Canadian teams on the revamped [World Curling Federation](/source/World_Curling_Federation)'s world team rankings qualified for the event.[3] A local men's and women's team also qualified, which was selected by the host committee. Additionally, the reigning men's and women's champions of the [2022 Canadian Junior Curling Championships](/source/2022_Canadian_Junior_Curling_Championships) received a berth, along with the reigning men's and women's champions of the [2021 Canadian Curling Club Championships](/source/2021_Canadian_Curling_Club_Championships). The final spot was decided by a fan vote.
