It was the 34th edition of the [women's event](/source/WTA_Auckland_Open),[1] and the 43rd edition of the [men's event](/source/ATP_Auckland_Open).[2] It took place at the [ASB Tennis Centre](/source/ASB_Tennis_Centre) in [Auckland](/source/Auckland), New Zealand, from 31 December 2018 to 6 January 2019 for the women, and from 7 to 12 January 2019 for the men.
