The **2018 Brisbane International** was a tennis tournament on the [2018 ATP World Tour](/source/2018_ATP_World_Tour) and [2018 WTA Tour](/source/2018_WTA_Tour). It was played on outdoor [hard courts](/source/Hard_court) in [Brisbane](/source/Brisbane), [Queensland](/source/Queensland), Australia. It was the tenth edition of the tournament and took place at the [Queensland Tennis Centre](/source/Queensland_Tennis_Centre) in [Tennyson](/source/Tennyson%2C_Queensland). It was held from 31 December 2017 to 7 January 2018[1] as part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year. [Rafael Nadal](/source/Rafael_Nadal) and [Andy Murray](/source/Andy_Murray) were about to start their 2018 seasons at the tournament, but both withdrew due to continuous injuries.[2][3] On 5 October 2017, defending champions [Grigor Dimitrov](/source/Grigor_Dimitrov) and [Karolína Plíšková](/source/Karol%C3%ADna_Pl%C3%AD%C5%A1kov%C3%A1) announced they would also compete.[4]
