The **2017 [World Fencing Championships](/source/World_Fencing_Championships)** was held at the [Arena Leipzig](/source/Arena_Leipzig) in [Leipzig](/source/Leipzig), [Germany](/source/Germany) from 19 to 26 July 2017.[1]

During the championships there was a demonstration of [wheelchair fencing](/source/Wheelchair_fencing). Russian [Ksenia Ovsyannikova](/source/Ksenia_Ovsyannikova) was Head of the Promotion Commission of IWAS and [Pal Szekeres](/source/Pal_Szekeres) IWAS Wheelchair Fencing Chairman and [Udo Ziegler](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Udo_Ziegler&action=edit&redlink=1) IWAS Secretary General was also present at the Arena Leipzig Stadium.[2]
