The **2016 [European Curling Championships](/source/European_Curling_Championships)** were held from November 18 to 26 in [Braehead](/source/Braehead), [Renfrewshire](/source/Renfrewshire), Scotland.[1] Scotland last hosted the European Curling Championships in [2009](/source/2009_European_Curling_Championships) in Aberdeen. The Group C competitions will be held in April in [Ljubljana](/source/Ljubljana), [Slovenia](/source/Slovenia).[2]

At the conclusion of the championships, the top eight women's teams will go to the [2017 World Women's Curling Championship](/source/2017_World_Women's_Curling_Championship) in [Beijing](/source/Beijing), and the top eight men's teams will go to the [2017 Ford World Men's Curling Championship](/source/2017_Ford_World_Men's_Curling_Championship) in [Edmonton, Alberta](/source/Edmonton), Canada.
