The top eight in the [Professional League](/source/Saudi_Professional_League) competed in the King cup which kicked off on 4 May.[1] [Al-Ahli](/source/Al-Ahli_SC_(Jeddah)) were the defending champion but they were eliminated by [Al-Shabab](/source/Al_Shabab_FC_(Riyadh)) in semifinals.
