The **2011 BMW Malaysian Open** was a [tennis](/source/Tennis) tournament played on [outdoor hard courts](/source/Hardcourt). It was the second edition of the [Malaysian Open](/source/Malaysian_Open_(tennis)) and was an [International tournament](/source/WTA_International_tournaments) on the [2011 WTA Tour](/source/2011_WTA_Tour). This was also the first edition of the tournament to be sponsored by [BMW](/source/BMW). The tournament took place from February 28 to March 6 at the [Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort](/source/Bukit_Kiara_Sports_Complex).

The event was headlined by the participation of World No. 5 and [French Open](/source/2010_French_Open) reigning champion [Francesca Schiavone](/source/Francesca_Schiavone), World No. 15 [Marion Bartoli](/source/Marion_Bartoli), former World No. 1 [Dinara Safina](/source/Dinara_Safina), the defending champion and World No. 22, [Alisa Kleybanova](/source/Alisa_Kleybanova) and World No. 30 [Lucie Šafářová](/source/Lucie_%C5%A0af%C3%A1%C5%99ov%C3%A1) among others.

- It was Dokić's first title of the year, and the sixth of her career. It was her first title since winning Birmingham in 2002.
