It took place at [Stade Pierre de Coubertin](/source/Stade_Pierre_de_Coubertin_(Paris)) in Paris, France from February 8 through February 14, 2010. The top two seeds were [Elena Dementieva](/source/Elena_Dementieva), the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in singles and a 2009 Wimbledon semifinalist and [Flavia Pennetta](/source/Flavia_Pennetta). Also participating in the tournament were [Yanina Wickmayer](/source/Yanina_Wickmayer), home favourite [Aravane Rezaï](/source/Aravane_Reza%C3%AF), [Shahar Pe'er](/source/Shahar_Pe'er), and [Alizé Cornet](/source/Aliz%C3%A9_Cornet).
