The **2009 Movistar Open** was a men's [tennis](/source/Tennis) tournament played on outdoor [clay courts](/source/Clay_court). It was the 16th edition of the [Movistar Open](/source/Movistar_Open), and part of the [ATP World Tour 250 series](/source/ATP_World_Tour_250_series) of the [2009 ATP World Tour](/source/2009_ATP_World_Tour). It took place in [Viña del Mar](/source/Vi%C3%B1a_del_Mar), Chile from 2 February through 8 February 2009.

The singles line up was led by world no. 15 and [defending champion](/source/2008_Movistar_Open) [Fernando González](/source/Fernando_Gonz%C3%A1lez), [Tommy Robredo](/source/Tommy_Robredo) and [Albert Montañés](/source/Albert_Monta%C3%B1%C3%A9s). Other top seeds are [José Acasuso](/source/Jos%C3%A9_Acasuso), [Juan Mónaco](/source/Juan_M%C3%B3naco), [Eduardo Schwank](/source/Eduardo_Schwank), [Agustín Calleri](/source/Agust%C3%ADn_Calleri) and [Óscar Hernández](/source/%C3%93scar_Hern%C3%A1ndez_(tennis)). [Fernando González](/source/Fernando_Gonz%C3%A1lez) won the single title, his fourth at the event after 2002, 2004, and 2008.
