# 2007 Sun Bowl

The **2007 [Brut](/source/Brut_(cologne)) [Sun Bowl](/source/Sun_Bowl)**, part of the [2007-08 NCAA football bowl games](/source/2007-08_NCAA_football_bowl_games) season, was played on December 31, 2007, at [Sun Bowl Stadium](/source/Sun_Bowl_Stadium) on the campus of the [University of Texas, El Paso](/source/University_of_Texas,_El_Paso), between the [South Florida Bulls](/source/South_Florida_Bulls_football) and the [Oregon Ducks](/source/Oregon_Ducks_football).

The Ducks were playing without [quarterback](/source/Quarterback) [Dennis Dixon](/source/Dennis_Dixon), who finished fifth in the [Heisman Trophy](/source/Heisman_Trophy) balloting but who had season-ending [ACL](/source/Anterior_cruciate_ligament) surgery in November. Redshirt freshman [Justin Roper](/source/Justin_Roper) made his first collegiate start in place of Dixon and threw for four touchdowns to tie a Sun Bowl record and lead the Ducks to a 56–21 victory.

The game marked the 40th consecutive telecast by [CBS Sports](/source/CBS_Sports). No other network and bowl game has been paired for a longer period of time.
