The **2006 Perth V8 400** was a [motor race](/source/Auto_racing) for [V8 Supercars](/source/V8_Supercars) held on the weekend of 12–14 May 2006. The event was held at [Barbagallo Raceway](/source/Barbagallo_Raceway) in [Perth](/source/Perth), Western Australia, and consisted of three races culminating in 400 kilometres. It was the third round of thirteen in the [2006 V8 Supercar Championship Series](/source/2006_V8_Supercar_Championship_Series).

## Background

[Britek Motorsports](/source/Britek_Motorsport)' second car returned to the track after [José Fernández](/source/Jos%C3%A9_Fern%C3%A1ndez_(racing_driver))' heavy accident in the [Adelaide 500](/source/2006_Clipsal_500), this time with local Sports Sedan driver [Tony Ricciardello](/source/Tony_Ricciardello) behind the wheel. The entry's Pukekohe replacement, [Mark Porter](/source/Mark_Porter_(racing_driver)) and his MSport team, returned to the [Fujitsu Series](/source/2006_Fujitsu_V8_Supercar_Series).

The only other change occurred at [Paul Morris Motorsport](/source/Paul_Morris_Motorsport); [Alan Gurr](/source/Alan_Gurr) was back in the teams' [Holden Commodore VZ](/source/Holden_Commodore_VZ) having been replaced by New Zealander [Fabian Coulthard](/source/Fabian_Coulthard) at the preceding round across the [Tasman](/source/Tasman_Sea).
