It was the 99th edition of the [Hamburg Masters](/source/Hamburg_Masters), and was part of the [ATP Masters Series](/source/ATP_Masters_Series) of the [2005 ATP Tour](/source/2005_ATP_Tour). It took place at the [Rothenbaum Tennis Center](/source/Rothenbaum) in [Hamburg](/source/Hamburg), Germany, from 9 May through 16 May 2005. First-seeded and defending champion [Roger Federer](/source/Roger_Federer) won the singles title.
