The '''2001 [AAA Championships](/source/AAA_Championships)''' sponsored by [Norwich Union](/source/Norwich_Union), was an outdoor [track and field](/source/track_and_field) competition organised by the [Amateur Athletic Association](/source/Amateur_Athletic_Association) (AAA), held from 13–15 July at [Alexander Stadium](/source/Alexander_Stadium) in [Birmingham](/source/Birmingham), England. It was considered the de facto [national championships](/source/national_championships) for the United Kingdom and was a qualifier for the [2001 World Championships in Athletics](/source/2001_World_Championships_in_Athletics).<ref name=NUTS>[https://www.nuts.org.uk/Champs/AAA/index.htm AAA WAAA and National Championships Medalists]. This event was added to the AAA programme in response the following year.<ref>[http://www.gbrathletics.com/bc/uk.htm UK Championships]. GBR Athletics.
