Locomotive wheel arrangement

Under the [Whyte notation](/source/Whyte_notation) for the classification of [steam locomotives](/source/Steam_locomotive), **2-12-2** represents the [wheel arrangement](/source/Wheel_arrangement) of two [leading wheels](/source/Leading_wheel) on one axle (usually in a [leading truck](/source/Leading_truck)), twelve powered and coupled [driving wheels](/source/Driving_wheel) on six axles, and two [trailing wheels](/source/Trailing_wheel) on one axle (usually in a [trailing truck](/source/Trailing_truck)).

### Austria

The [Deutsche Reichsbahn](/source/Deutsche_Reichsbahn) and later the [Austrian Federal Railways](/source/Austrian_Federal_Railways) operated two [Class 97.4](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Class_97.4_(locomotive)&action=edit&redlink=1) 2-12-2T tank locomotives, both built in 1941.[1]

### Indonesia

An Indonesian F10 locomotive

[Hanomag](/source/Hanomag) and [Werkspoor](/source/Werkspoor) built a cumulative total of 28 JSS 800, came in 1912-1920. The [SS 800s](/source/Indonesian_Railways_class_SS_800_%2F_F10) (2-12-2Ts or 1′F1′ h2t in [UIC notation](/source/UIC_notation)) also known as *Javanic* had been used by the [Staatsspoorwegen](/source/Staatsspoorwegen) in freight service in [Java](/source/Java_(island)) and [Sumatra](/source/Sumatra), Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia. They were assigned the railroad numbers 801-823 and H130-134.[2] After [Indonesian Independence](/source/Proclamation_of_Indonesian_Independence), they were renumbered as F1001-F1026 by [Indonesian State Railways](/source/Kereta_Api_Indonesia).[3]
