The **1998 S.League** was the third season of the [S.League](/source/S.League), the top professional [football](/source/Association_football) league in [Singapore](/source/Singapore). Teams played each other once both home and away, in a 20-match season.

The 1998 S.League was won by [Singapore Armed Forces](/source/Singapore_Armed_Forces_FC), their second consecutive title.

## Teams

[Jurong](/source/Jurong_FC) left [Bukit Gombak Stadium](/source/Bukit_Gombak_Stadium) upon completion of their new home ground [Jurong East Stadium](/source/Jurong_East_Stadium). [Home United](/source/Home_United_FC) also relocated, leaving [Jalan Besar Stadium](/source/Jalan_Besar_Stadium) to move into [Bishan Stadium](/source/Bishan_Stadium). Two new teams entered into the competition – [Gombak United](/source/Gombak_United_FC) (who took the place of Jurong playing at [Bukit Gombak Stadium](/source/Bukit_Gombak_Stadium)) and [Marine Castle United](/source/Marine_Castle_United_FC) who made [Hougang Stadium](/source/Hougang_Stadium) their home – taking the number of participating teams to eleven. [Tiong Bahru United](/source/Tiong_Bahru_United_FC) were renamed Tanjong Pagar United for the 1998 season.

[Singapore Armed Forces](/source/Singapore_Armed_Forces_FC) qualified to compete in the 1999–2000 Asian Club Championship. This was their second appearance in continental competition. The club met with more success than in their first appearance, defeating [Royal Dolphins](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Royal_Dolphins&action=edit&redlink=1) of the [Cambodian League](/source/Cambodian_League) 11–3 on aggregate in the East Asian first round. They were defeated in the second round by [Sinthana](/source/BBCU_F.C.) of the [Thai Premier League](/source/Thai_Premier_League), going down 3–2 on aggregate.
