The **1996 BellSouth Open** was a men's [tennis](/source/Tennis) tournament held on [outdoor hard courts](/source/Hardcourt) at the [ASB Tennis Centre](/source/ASB_Tennis_Centre) in [Auckland](/source/Auckland) in New Zealand and was part of the [World Series](/source/ATP_International_Series) of the [1996 ATP Tour](/source/1996_ATP_Tour). It was the 29th edition of the tournament and was held from 8 January through 14 January 1996. Eighth-seeded [Jiří Novák](/source/Ji%C5%99%C3%AD_Nov%C3%A1k) won the singles title.[3]
