The **1990 Monte Carlo Open**, also known by its sponsored name **Volvo Monte Carlo Open**, was a men's [tennis](/source/Tennis) tournament played on [outdoor clay courts](/source/Clay_court). It was the 84th edition of the [Monte Carlo Open](/source/Monte-Carlo_Masters), and was part of the [ATP Championship Series, Single-Week](/source/ATP_Tour_Masters_1000) of the [1990 ATP Tour](/source/1990_ATP_Tour). It took place at the [Monte Carlo Country Club](/source/Monte_Carlo_Country_Club) in [Roquebrune-Cap-Martin](/source/Roquebrune-Cap-Martin), France, near [Monte Carlo](/source/Monte_Carlo), [Monaco](/source/Monaco), 23 April until 29 April 1990. The men's field was headlined by [Stefan Edberg](/source/Stefan_Edberg) and [Boris Becker](/source/Boris_Becker). [Andrei Chesnokov](/source/Andrei_Chesnokov), who was seeded 12th, won the singles title.[3]
