The **1989 Quebec general election** was held on September 25, 1989, to elect members of the [National Assembly](/source/National_Assembly_of_Quebec) of the Province of [Quebec](/source/Quebec), Canada. The incumbent [Quebec Liberal Party](/source/Quebec_Liberal_Party), led by Premier [Robert Bourassa](/source/Robert_Bourassa), won re-election, defeating the [Parti Québécois](/source/Parti_Qu%C3%A9b%C3%A9cois), led by [Jacques Parizeau](/source/Jacques_Parizeau).

This election was notable for the arrival of the [Equality Party](/source/Equality_Party_(Quebec)), which advocated [English-speaking minority](/source/English-speaking_Quebecers) rights. It won four seats, but never had any success in any subsequent election.
