It was the 9th edition of the [Indian Wells Masters](/source/Indian_Wells_Masters) and was part of the [1982 Volvo Grand Prix](/source/1982_Volvo_Grand_Prix). It was played at the [La Quinta Resort and Club](/source/La_Quinta_Resort_and_Club) in [La Quinta, California](/source/La_Quinta%2C_California) in the United States and was held from February 15 through February 21, 1982. Fourth-seeded [Yannick Noah](/source/Yannick_Noah) won the singles title and earned $32,000 first-prize money.[3][4]
