The **1971 Davis Cup** was the 60th edition of the [Davis Cup](/source/Davis_Cup), the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 28 teams entered the Europe Zone, 13 teams entered the Americas Zone, and 9 teams entered the Eastern Zone. [Bolivia](/source/Bolivia_Davis_Cup_team) made its first appearance in the tournament.

[Brazil](/source/Brazil_Davis_Cup_team) defeated [Mexico](/source/Mexico_Davis_Cup_team) in the Americas Inter-Zonal final, [India](/source/India_Davis_Cup_team) defeated [Japan](/source/Japan_Davis_Cup_team) in the Eastern Inter-Zonal final, and [Czechoslovakia](/source/Czechoslovakia_Davis_Cup_team) and [Romania](/source/Romania_Davis_Cup_team) were the winners of the two Europe Zones, defeating [Spain](/source/Spain_Davis_Cup_team) and [West Germany](/source/Germany_Davis_Cup_team) respectively.

In the Inter-Zonal Zone, Brazil defeated Czechoslovakia and Romania defeated India in the semifinals, and then Romania defeated Brazil in the final. The final was played at the Olde Providence Racquet Club in [Charlotte, North Carolina](/source/Charlotte%2C_North_Carolina), United States on 8–11 October.[1][2][3]
