The **1919 PGA Championship** was the second [PGA Championship](/source/PGA_Championship), which is now considered one of [golf](/source/Golf)'s [major championships](/source/Men's_major_golf_championships). It was held September 16–20 at the [Engineers Country Club](/source/Engineers_Country_Club) in [Roslyn Harbor, New York](/source/Roslyn_Harbor%2C_New_York), east of [New York City](/source/New_York_City) on [Long Island](/source/Long_Island) in [Nassau County](/source/Nassau_County%2C_New_York).

The PGA Championship was not held in 1917 or 1918 due to [World War I](/source/World_War_I). The field of 32 golfers qualified by sectional tournaments.[2] They competed in 36-hole [match play](/source/Match_play) rounds[1] in a [single-elimination tournament](/source/Single-elimination_tournament).[3][4][5][6] Defending champion [Jim Barnes](/source/Jim_Barnes_(golfer)) defeated [Fred McLeod](/source/Fred_McLeod_(golfer)), 6 and 5, in the final.[7]
