**104 Tauri** (**104 Tau**) is the [Flamsteed designation](/source/Flamsteed_designation) for a [star](/source/Star) in the [equatorial](/source/Celestial_equator) [constellation](/source/Constellation) of [Taurus](/source/Taurus_(constellation)). It has an [apparent magnitude](/source/Apparent_magnitude) of 4.92, which is bright enough to be seen with the naked eye. Based upon [parallax](/source/Stellar_parallax) measurements, this star is located about 50 [light-years](/source/Light-year) from the [Sun](/source/Sun).[1] It is moving further from the Sun with a heliocentric [radial velocity](/source/Radial_velocity) of +20 km/s.[2]

This star has a [stellar classification](/source/Stellar_classification) of G4 V,[2] which suggests it is an ordinary [G-type main-sequence star](/source/G-type_main-sequence_star) that is generating energy through [hydrogen fusion](/source/Hydrogen_fusion) at its [stellar core](/source/Stellar_core). It is an estimated 10[3] billion years old and is spinning with a [projected rotational velocity](/source/Projected_rotational_velocity) of 10 km/s.[2] The star has about the same [mass as the Sun](/source/Solar_mass), with 1.6 times the [Sun's radius](/source/Sun's_radius).[4] It is radiating 2.4[5] times the [Sun's luminosity](/source/Sun's_luminosity) from its [photosphere](/source/Photosphere) at an [effective temperature](/source/Effective_temperature) of 5,717 K.[3]

104 Tauri appears to have a modest barium enrichment compared to iron. This may indicate that the star had accreted stellar wind of a companion star in the [asymptotic giant branch](/source/Asymptotic_giant_branch), which has since evolved into a white dwarf.[6]

The star displays convincing evidence for an [infrared excess](/source/Infrared_excess), suggesting the presence of a circumstellar [debris disk](/source/Debris_disk) of dust.[7] It also presents a statistically significant difference on [proper motion](/source/Proper_motion) measurements taken by the [Hipparcos](/source/Hipparcos) and [Gaia](/source/Gaia_(spacecraft)) spacecrafts, suggesting the presence of an orbiting [exoplanet](/source/Exoplanet).[8]

On 24 July 2028, it will be occulted by [Venus](/source/Venus) over [Japan](/source/Japan), [East Siberia](/source/East_Siberia) and the [Pacific Ocean](/source/Pacific_Ocean).[9]: 165
